'Me and Marlene'

Since 2004 this show has toured throughout the UK, including Northern Ireland, and to Dublin and California.

'ME AND MARLENE' - Glamour, sex - and a penchant for men’s clothing … an extraordinary life that spanned the twentieth century and many of its most dramatic moments. From inter-war Berlin to the golden age of Hollywood and beyond … she was there! Alternating between herself and Marlene, Patricia Hartshorne employs humour, innuendo, irony and pathos, as well as many of Dietrich’s most famous songs, to entertain and surprise her audience. Piano accompaniment is on stage throughout the show. Concert pianist John Miles accompanies 'Miss Dietrich' - and also works with a wide range of performers, from musicians and dancers, to choirs and international opera singers.

"The best representation of Miss Dietrich since the real thing!"
Richard Longhurst   Jermyn Street Theatre  2007

"This top-notch production hits all the right spots. Hartshorne smoothly slips in and out of character and has a packed venue laughing, applauding and holding their breath in abundance. Her anti-war message is as relevant today as it was decades ago. This is wickedly good theatre".
Aidan Harney  GCN Dublin  2006

"Hartshorne looks and sounds like Dietrich, while the distance of the commentator is cleverly maintained ...  all this is conveyed with professional accuracy and charm".
Gerry Colgan   Irish Times   2006

"This show is impeccably well researched, and Hartshorne's impressions are eerily, uncannily accurate. Dietrich's voice is easy to parody, less easy to tribute, but Hartshorne treads this gravelly path with panache"
Adi Bloom  TES 2005

"gets under the skin of Marlene Dietrich... engages with her audience and brings them along for the ride as Dietrich kisses women on screen, defies Hitler and breaks all the rules... a solid and professional performance"
Thom Dibdin  Stage 2005

"When you seek to portray, on stage, a celebrity as well known as Marlene Dietrich, you have to aim high if you are to succeed. Hartshorne achieves this and more. There are some beautifully performed songs, and she really brings Marlene's stage presence to life before us"
Neil Ingram  Edinburgh Guide  2005
